Jodi hails from rural Lunenburg County, but her RVA roots run deep, with her maternal great-grandparents raising their families in Chesterfield. After graduating from Virginia Tech, Jodi and her husband Chris (a Midlothian native) purchased her grandparents’ home in Chesterfield and renovated it themselves. In 2014, Jodi and Chris followed their dream of living on the Outer Banks of NC and started Highway 12 Designs, a custom embroidery business that went on to reach the top 1% of sales on Etsy (which was comprised of over 6 million seller accounts at the time).
Jodi sold the business in 2017 to pursue another passion—food—by taking a position as a cook at a local restaurant, working her way through the ranks to the role of executive chef. In 2020, with the hospitality industry shuttered, Jodi decided to try her hand at another career path that had always captured her interest—real estate. By some miracle, a top-producing solo agent (whose business was thriving beyond her capacity) took a chance on Jodi by hiring her for marketing and transaction management.
Real estate operations turned out to be a great fit for Jodi—her entrepreneurial background gave her an edge in creating marketing collateral and social media campaigns, and in 2021, she earned her NC Broker’s License to expand her transactional role. There was just one thing Jodi and Chris were missing: their family. In late 2022, they purchased their cottage in Jodi’s hometown of Kenbridge, VA and she joined The Beran Group in January 2023 as the Manager of Marketing and Transactions.
